Static or dynamic QR code?
A static QR code stores your content directly and never expires. A dynamic QR code points to a short link you can change after printing.
| Feature | Static QR code | Dynamic QR code |
|---|---|---|
| Where the content lives | Inside the code itself | On a short link that redirects |
| Edit after printing | No, print a new code | Yes, change the destination any time |
| Scan statistics | Not built in; use UTM tags | Scan counts and insights |
| Expiry | Never expires | Works while the plan is active |
| On ScanMeFox | Free now | Pro, coming soon |

QR code questions, answered
Is ScanMeFox really free?
Yes. All nine QR code generators, colors, dot styles, logos and PNG/SVG downloads are free, with no account and no watermark. A paid Pro plan for editable links is planned; the free static tools stay free.
Do QR codes from ScanMeFox expire?
No. Static QR codes store your content inside the code itself, so ScanMeFox sets no time or scan limit. The code keeps working as long as its destination, such as your website, is online.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR code stores the content directly and can't be changed after printing, but it never expires. A dynamic QR code stores a short link that redirects, so the destination can be changed and scans counted. ScanMeFox's free tools make static codes; dynamic codes are planned for Pro.
Is my data uploaded when I make a QR code?
No. Your QR content and logo are processed in your browser and aren't sent to ScanMeFox's servers. If you choose to save a code, it is stored in this browser only, up to 25 codes, and clearing browser data removes it.
Can I add my logo to a QR code?
Yes. Upload a logo in the QR Studio's Design tab. ScanMeFox sizes it against the code's error correction and warns you if the result may not scan reliably.
Which format should I download, PNG or SVG?
PNG is best for sharing on screens, chats and documents. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, so use it for print. Always test the downloaded code with your phone.
How big should a printed QR code be?
A common rule is at least 2 × 2 cm for close scanning, such as on a business card, and about one-tenth of the scanning distance for signs: a code scanned from 2 metres away should be about 20 cm wide. Test a sample print before a large run.
Can I change a QR code after printing it?
Not a static one. Its content is fixed, so changing it means printing a new code. Editable short links will be part of the upcoming ScanMeFox Pro plan.
